In this sketching the landscape course you will delve into the history of art and some of the most well-known artists who have influenced the way we approach our work. Each week Jaclyn will focus on the techniques these artist have used to master the the skill of sketching landscapes.
Course Outline
18th January: Composition,using a viewfinder, editing
25th January: Mark making with Van Gogh
01st February: Blending and removing with Claude Monet
08th February: Ink wash drawing with Rembrandt
22nd February: Charcoal drawing with George Seurat
01st March: Pastel landscapes with Edgar Degas

What you’ll learn:
- Understand the techniques used by these artists and how you can incorporate them in your drawing.
- The confidence to develop your sketching skills at a pace that suits you.
- Tips on how to approach the use of different media within your drawing.
What you’ll need:
To join this drawing urban landscape course, our tutor suggest that you have the following materials.
- Pencil
- An eraser
- Sharpener
- 300gsm watercolour A4 pad
- Masking Tape
- A board
Your Tutor
Jaclyn Stuart is an artist who works in St Andrews Scotland. She graduated from Grays School of Art with a BA Hons in Fine Art in 2000. She has taught art in many establishments including lecturing in Further Education. She now runs her own teaching business in St Andrews along with making and selling her own artwork. She works in watercolour, acrylics, oils and inks.
